1) Gain "buy-in" from the staff on ViziLite Plus benefits to patients and the practice. For the practice, focus on enhanced standard of care and profitability.
2) Assign the responsibility for identifying the highest risk patients to specific members (receptionist/RDH) in the practice (age 40 and older; tobacco users); many practices offer ViziLite Plus to all adult patients because over 25% of oral cancer victims have NO risk factors, and “prescribe” or strongly recommend that their patients age 40 and older and tobacco users have the ViziLite screening.
3) Ensure that the ViziLite Plus patients are given a ViziLite patient brochure. Once in the operatory, the patient is then given the Patient Consent/Waiver Form to read.
4) Ensure all ViziLite Plus components are on the tray.
5) Ask patient if he/she has any questions regarding the Patient Consent Form. Re-state the benefits of the ViziLite Plus, particularly for high risk patients (age 40 and older/and tobacco users), as well as all patients (in-office script). Show patient the comparison picture (from the Patient Brochure) of what tissue looks like without and with ViziLite Plus.
6) After patient accepts the ViziLite Plus screening, use the back of the Patient Consent Form (mouth map) to record findings of the screening for inclusion in the patient chart and submission to insurance companies.
7) If patient declines the ViziLite Plus screening, have the patient sign and date the Patient Consent/Waiver Form for inclusion in his/her dental records.
